As travelers continue to be in one of two schools of thought, one being the “Let me travel now! I’m ready. I’m not afraid. Low crowds? YES!” or the second being, ” Well, I’m not sure it’s a good idea, and what if things get worse, and I’m not sure I’ll be stuck with thousands of dollars tied up.” Which one are you? The continued low crowd levels have, apparently, come as a surprise to the Walt Disney Travel Company who offered a room discount last week, AND a new “Confidence Policy.” The Walt Disney Travel Company states regarding guests, “…when planning their next Walt Disney World Vacation, if their plans change, any Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees will be waived up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through December 31, 2020.”
It’s important to note that if a guest no longer wishes to visit they must cancel their reservation prior to check-in to be eligible to receive a refund. No-shows will be penalized the full cost of the vacation package.
How do you feel about this new policy? Disney wanted you to feel you can book a vacation with no risk. They’re willing to bet this will encourage more travelers. If there are more travelers will this discourage people who were previously willing to travel because of low crowds. Were the potential penalties really hindering bookings? We shall see…
