About LaurieHello and welcome to Happily Ever After Travel with Laurie Thisius! I am so excited to serve you as a travel planner! I love traveling!! I’ve been married to my husband since 1991 and we have two married sons, an adorable granddaughter, and two German short-hair dogs. Originally from Minnesota, growing up I lived in Toronto, Canada for five years. For over the last 32 years, I have lived in Kansas. My love of traveling started with childhood road trips! Growing up my family traveled from Minnesota to Disneyland (yes, in a station wagon!) and from Toronto, Canada to Walt Disney World (yes, in a conversion van pulling a camper trailer). While attending the University of Minnesota to be a teacher, I worked summers with a traveling festival company in their human resource department. My last semester in college, I was a cast member in the Disney College Program. Upon graduating, my soon-to-be husband and I moved to Kansas (where we have lived for over 30 years now) and I started my 32 year career as a 4th grade teacher. Disney has always been in my blood and I am now coming back to that love as a professional travel planner! In addition to Disney, I love fishing, sports, food, small boat cruising, reading, and traveling to explore the U.S. National Parks! Traveling gives me time to relax, learn about the amazing world around us, and create lasting memories! I look forward to creating and planning magical adventures for you! Your favorite place to travel: It is so hard to narrow down my favorite place(s) to travel! My favorite theme park is Walt Disney World! I have been there over 20 times and look forward to my next visit which I hope is always less than 24 months away! My favorite state is Utah. My favorite national park is Acadia National Park. My favorite European country is England. My favorite lake is any lake in Minnesota. The best thing you've ever eaten on vacation: I love eating whatever food is local to the area I am traveling to! I love getting into the local flavor of the region. East and west coast traveling means local seafood; Southern traveling means local Cajun food; Disney means a Dole Whip, Mickey Pretzel and ice cream bar! I am always on the lookout for the next iconic and regional food! The best part about being a Travel Advisor: I am passionate about traveling. The best part of being a Professional Travel Advisor is helping others. I hope to take away the planning stress of vacations so others can relax and enjoy their adventure. I love to talk about traveling so being a travel planner is a dream come true for me. I truly hope that I am able to serve others and make their traveling dreams come true.
